1) We have Red Hat Linux 9
2) They say they installed DB2 9 but what I see with db2level is 8.x
3) When I connect to database I see DB2/Linux 8.2.4 ( Is this DB2/linux version details? )
4) Does db2level show client/server/both versions.
5) What should show up if really DB2 9 is insatlled.
6) Also, how many ways are there to find version, release, fixpack etc. details in server and client & what are they?

the best way to see the version of db2 that is installed is to use the db2level command
my version 9 shows
C:\program files\IBM\SQLLIB_01\bin>db2level
DB21085I  Instance "DB2_01" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL09010" with

level identifier "02010107".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v9.1.0.356", "s060629", "NT32", and Fix Pack "0".
Product is installed at "C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB~1" with DB2 Copy Name

C:\program files\IBM\SQLLIB_01\bin>

regrading the client / server question, i believe that the db2level command will show which server is installed, because when you install a server a client is also installed
you can also use a table function called
that will list all udb products and thier versions that are installed on the machine

0.356 is the build level, it's not the fixpack number. i have fixpack 0
you can find more data about the db2level output here
