DNS Updating to Client PCs through SBS server.

Hi all,

I have a small mail server sitting at our ISP acting as a mail host for a couple of our clients. Together with that I have a DNS server being the primary on the records for those domains. Occasionally we change the domain details. In our office we are running a SBS server with a couple of Windows XP machines connected.

Can anyone tell me, if i make a change to the DNS records of one of our clients domains - what would be the quickest way to get my SBS server to see that change. I've tried ipconfig /flushdns but that dont seem to help.

You can create a new forward lookup zone in the DNS manager of your SBS server.  Create a new primary zone for the domain name (ie; abc.com).  Do not allow dynamic updates.  After creating the zone enter an A record for the domain details (www, ftp, mail, etc.) of that domain.  Now if you make a change to the mail server IP address or some other domain detail for abc.com you will need to update the DNS server at your ISP and your SBS server.
