dredger.exe error messages in event viewer
I have a few clients running HP ML310 Servers running Windows SBS 2003 that were installed and setup recently.
They are running Symantec Antivirus Enterprise with the Anti-Spam add on and also Symantec Backup Exec 11d.
On all of these servers we are receiving the following errors in the event viewer logs when a reboot has been performed. We have also noticed that services such as ther backup exec services fail to start automatically and need to be started manually.

We have updated all versions of software to the latest versions including all Windows updates.
I have also scoured the internet looking for a solution and am yet to find it.
Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Hi mhzz,
I've the same problem like you explained. Have you already found a solution.

I had a phone call with symantec.
They know about this "defect" and are working on a hotfix.
It is caused be Symantec Mail Security for Exchange 6.x
The error shouldn't occur in Mail Security 5.0.6
For me it is OK to take this version as a workaround...

I have also found it to be a problem with Symantec Mail Security and have reported it to the local Symantec Support Team.
The initially sent me an upgrade to the latest version of Mail Security which also did the same thing.
My next move was to reinstall version 5.
I hope that Symantec release a hotfix soon.

I also am having this dredger.exe fault, also have SMSE 6. What is it about Symantec and Microsoft these days. Just updated SMSE, still faulting.

Symantec have now informed me that this is a known problem and will be fixing it in the next Mail Security for Exchange release. However they could not give me an ETA on when the next release would be available.

Do you also notice high cpu usage?
The process Dredger.exe is part of healthmonitor.
This should fix it:
Winmgmt.exe /clearadap
Winmgmt.exe /resyncperf -p <process_id_of_winmgmt>
Although I'me not sure if this still apllies to sbs 2003.
