Dynamically inserting Word documents in to Crystal Reports

Hello All

I need to dymanically insert a number of word documents in to a Crystal Report, basically I have a table with records containing names and details and a field called filename, I need to print a page per record with the name and then the word document for each person below their name on each page.

I am using CR11 R2 and have tried using an embedded OLE object. Also tried changing the graphic location as well.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hmm, well, all my word docs are only 1 page so no worries there.

The path for my word doc is read from a db well part of it anyway.

Would you mind explaining how I would go about it if I was to use option as you mentioned above?

Also, does all this work in CR10 at all?
Sorry meant to say option 2 above
Hi durbanpoison,

Are you able to resolve your requirement of insert a document dynamically into CR? I have the same requirement too. Hope you can help me out. Thanks
I can't recall mate.

I don't think I ever found a solution though, I would remember of so.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Did you use an alternative since you did not find a solution to it?
hehe, my solution was a bit drastic.

I axed the system and developed a different one....

What are you trying to achieve?
Rather simple goal, to display drawings or product specs (pdf format) of a product in CR as a reference for the production/procurement people. The data comes from our ERP item master using MS-SQL 2005 database
completely guessing here but what about trying to dynamically create a link to the relevant document rather than inserting it? so it can be opening in a web browser
We have pre-attached the documents in the ERP system. So, i only have to fetch from the database directly. Anyway, i shall give your suggestion a thought and see how it goes. Thanks
