Item stuck in trash - Mac OS X 10.4.10

When I first started using a Mac, I apparently incorrectly installed an addon to ITunes call GimmeSomeTunes.  I have a hard drive icon on my desktop labeled "GimmeSomeTunes" that I can't get rid of.  Also, when I try to empty my trash, I get the following message ""The operation cannot be completed because the item "GimmeSomeTune.dmg" is in use."  How do I clear all this?  I am not opposed to uninstalling the whole program.

No doubt you have a "GimmeSomeTunes.dmg" in the trash as well. The GimmeSomeTunes desktop hard drive icon is that of the mounted dmg file. You're trying to delete the dmg file, before unmounting the GimmeSomeTunes "disk". Drag the GimmeSomeTunes icon from your desktop to trash (trash can should change to an eject symbol) to unmount it, then you should be able to empty the trash.

When trying to eject the desktop icon, I get the following error "The disk GimmeSomeTune is in use and could not be ejected.  Try quitting applications and try again."  This application nor ITunes is running.

Have you rebooted the computer? Rebooting will unmount all disks, and shouldn't remount the GimmeSomeTunes when you login again.

Failing this, tell us what's in the GimmeSomeTunes disk on the desktop and we can help narrow down what might be running.

It sounds like there's a shortcut to the GimmeSomeTunes (GST) disk in your iTunes plugin folder, keeping it open.

Go into your user's home folder, go into Library, and look for a folder called iTunes Plugins. See if there's a shortcut to the GST plugin in there. If so, trash it and restart your computer. If the GST drive doesn't mount then you should be able to empty the trash.
