I have a search field/form in Flash MX that has the word "Search" as the initial value and I would like to have it clear when clicked instead of having to swipe it out and delete it.

Any ideas?

use "TextField.onSetFocus" event for your requirement..

here is the sample code, assuming ur TextField instance name is "myText":

myText.onSetFocus = function()
{
      myText.text ="";
}
