Setting up a 2003 server as DC on a 2000 domain with Exchange 2000 on the network setup as a DC

I am trying to add a 2003 domain controller to a 2000 domain.

I have made the server a member server and have not ran dcpromo yet. I know that I am supposed to run adprep before I run dcpromo in for a 2003 server to be a DC on a 2000 domain.

We currently have a 2000 Exchange server that is a DC. I have read a lot of places that say that this a problem. By running adprep can cause problems with my exchange server.

I am a little confused as to exactly what the problems are and how to get around them. I have a lot of steps ahead of me but first off I would just like to get our new server setup as a DC on the current domain. Please let me know how I go about doing this.

This article should tell you everything you need to know:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325379

Don't be deceived by its title; it also addresses adding a new 2003 DC to an existing 2000 domain, and the section labeled "Microsoft Exchange 2000 in Windows 2000 forests" addresses the Exchange issues.

If you run adprep on the windows 2003 it will prepare your forest to upgrade to a 2003 forest.

I know what adprep is, but will it cause any problems with exchange 2000 being on a windows 2000 DC

The link is referencing to upgrading from 2000 to 2003, which it still doesn't exactly explain it. I am not upgrading. I am installing an additional 2003 server and need to set it up as domain controller on the 2000 domain.
