Re-opening a question that was never resolved. . .

I have two video cards that have multi-monitor support. One port on each is broken. Therefore, I am currently looking at two screens, one in one card, the other, well, in the other. Left is primary, right is extended. However, I need to CLONE between two cards. So. . .

Video Card A ---> Monitor 1
Video Card B ---> Monitor 2

Display = Monitor 1 = Monitor 2

NOT

Monitor 1 + Monitor 2 = Display

Is this possible, or MUST I get another card with 2 working ports just to clone? Thanks.

In your display settings  do you see 2 monitors in there ?
You shoudl be able to use clone mode on just one video save yourself some trouiblle.
 one video card with tv out then just use clone mode on that.
clone mode is exactly as it sounds it clones your desktop.
clone mode is not the same as dual mode

dual mode

Have you tried dragging the items over onto the monitor 2?
enable desktop on the second monitor?
Have you looked into spanning?

I have two monitors already connected in span mode. However, it seems as if span is the only multi-monitor option available when each monitor is on a different card. Also, I'm using an ATI Radeon interface for each, though I wish I was working with NVidia as assumed in the last post. TV is not an option because of noise purposes (one display is in a room where I'm recording sound. If I had an LCD TV I could do it, but I only have CRTs, and those have a minimal buzz to them which would be quite inappropriate in the recording). Dual is not needed, nor is spanning. Just clone. Two displays showing the exact same thing with the equipment I have: Two ATI Radeon cards.

Perhaps there exists a sort of software that could create a virtual device to feed one of the cards? I'm just throwing stuff out there. Thanks.

Closer. . .

Ok, so I wish I had matrox. . .

Money :(

The second link was, as mentioned above, much closer. However, the cloning in the review still took place within a single card, with the other card handling the span/extension. I need both cards to display the same image, because one output on each card is dead. Must admit it is quite debilitating to have two cards and a potential of 4 monitors, only to have 2 crap out on you. Anyway, ideas on this? Thanks again.

If two of the cards that have crapped out, then the only alternatively as I see it is new cards or the matrox or add a dvi so you can run clone mode on up to 4 computers.
Clone mode is not spanning.
Virtual desktops not quite the same

BTW you can also look into flat screen TV just  have the power adapter altered and added to suite and they make great monitors
