Hi,

I need to circular a excel to say 500 users. For updating there details.
Is it possible to give permissions to each row so that no other user can edit other rows or damage them.

Yes, this can be done, however you and the other users who need editing of the file needs to be on a domain. If they are on a domain then you can give access to any cells on the sheet to any users.

The users will need to be logged in to the domain in order to edit the cells (which you have given access to).

hope this helps,

Yes - Tools->Protection->Allow users to edit ranges.
Might take a while to set up though!

Dont think you can do row permissions.  But you could do a password protected sheet for each.

No, you can do that in 2002, 2003 and 2007. [There isn't anything above 2007 yet! :) ]

zoofan, I'm sure that can be done using 2003, atleast,  because I  used to do it on our network using MS Excel 2003 :-)
