POP3 Connector on SBS

An attempt to relay e-mail to recipient <XXXXX@XXXXX.XXXXX> was made. The e-mail could not be delivered because the recipient's e-mail domain name does not match any local e-mail domains

no, that is okay, but please reboot or do an iisreset (and perhaps recheck the tutorial)

SBS server has been configured to download email via pop3. Each account has been added to the users accounts on the system. They can send out but when downloading email i get the above error in the application log.

did you add the domain to the default recepients policy in Exchange system manger?

Yeah i have added it there. That was the first thing i added. However i have not rebooted since doing this.

The users on the SBS server are not the same as the email accounts but does this matter. For instance the users in AD are firstname.surame but their pop3 email addresses are like support and technical.
