Classic Fonts

Hi,

Does anybody have any good suggestions on where to get free good looking fonts to use on Wedding Slidehsows, Business Presentations, etc. I need the following styles...

1. Sans Serif fonts
2. Serif Fonts
3. Script fonts

I am looking for fonts that graphic designers use as their bread and butter fonts.

Thanks.

crickpaolo,

The bread and butter fonts of graphic designers are many, and all are commercial fonts. There are some important reasons for this, not least of which is that a commercial font is consistent and reliable, and also because the designer, using a properly licensed font, does not need to worry about someone approaching the clients about unlicensed use of a font in their logo or business materials.

The following is a great starter book:

Cheers,

Hi LHerrou,

Hmmm...I probably don't need the bread and butter fonts used by graphics designers. Simply because I do not have any money.  Do you know of any good free fonts that look good in general?

Thanks.

I have probably 8,000+ font files, they are about 1/5 commercial and the rest free or at least non-commercial. There are many sources available, many font designers offer free fonts as well as their paid offerings. However, a good place to start is http://www.dafont.com/

Rather than thinking in terms of gathering some specific fonts, it may be more helpful to think in terms of specific projects, and what will work well for that project.

I am looking for good free fonts to use mainly for Wedding Slideshows and Photo Gallery slideshows.  I am looking for fonts similar to the fonts used in the ProShow Producer Demo Slideshow:

Also, if it is ok, can get get a copy of the free fonts from your collection? It will save me a lot of time, compared to downloading them one at a time from the web. If not, that is fine also.

The fonts in my collection wouldn't fit on a single CD, they would be too massive to send. I suggest just browsing the DaFont site, perhaps by sub-categories within "Script" for wedding slideshows. Fonts are as much an artistic decision as colors, form /  shape, placement, etc, etc. What I might choose is certain to be different from what another (you, perhaps) might choose - and you may well understand your specialty area(s) and appropriate fonts for them than I could ever...
