Can you encrypt via PHP to MySQL online, then decrypt in FileMaker 9?

I need to enable FileMaker to decrypt data that is being entered online and then stored encrypted in a MySQL database through PHP scripts. I have yet to find a plugin for FileMaker that will decrypt data the same way as any PHP scripts do it -- the results are always different. Is anyone doing this successfully? I'm not tied to any particular PHP script, so I can write or use different PHP scripts as needed to produce the same results as whatever FileMaker solution is using. FileMaker 9 makes it so easy to connect to online MySQL databases, but this encryption problem has hung me up.

you need to know the encryption algorythm and method, otherwise you won't be able to decrypt it, and this assuming there is a plug-in in filemaker to use the same method (MD5 for instance).
See Troi.com for plug-ins.

If the data is being encrypted using MD5 then i'd be surprised if you found a plug in to decrypt it, since MD5 is supposedly impossible to decrypt. The only way would be to read in the encrypted value then use the brute force method to try to find a match.

Hopefully they used a home made encryption algorithm you can figure out.

Good luck.

you don't only need the plug-in but also the key and method! if it would be easily done without the author's collaboration what would encryption be good to?!

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

I tried a plugin (Skydancer Studios blowfish) for which I can specify the key and method (I used ECB). When I used the same key and method in an open-source blowfish PHP script, I got a different encrypted result. That's why I'd like to know if anyone is doing this successfully, and if so, how.

unfortunately no...
different result for the same string... same character encoding also? maybe the php is using a 8859-1 string and not filemaker? just a tiny clue...

You could try using the SmartPill PHP plugin for filemaker to decrypt the data. You should be able to use whatever the opposite detcrypt function that you use on the web from within FileMaker.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of that plugin. It's a nifty one. I can use it to run my own custom encryption scripts with it. Thanks.
