Linux has a gui?   Heh. I don't know for redhat - the gui tools vary by distro.  "Ook in system tools/netwoirking

Sorry, the ifconfig is a file correct? not a command.

Type "system-config-network" as root.

Highlight the device of interest and click Edit. Here you'll find your network details including IP address.

ifconfig is a file.. and a command.. simply typing /sbin/ifconfig will give your answer.
