Recover partition that was deleted on accident
I had my external HD connected to a computer I was fixing to format and reinstall Win XP on. When it booted up to the Windows CD I went to delete the old partition on the drive getting reinstalled on. Not thinking about my external drive being connected I selected it and deleted the partition.
No of of when it's connected to my pc I cannot see anything on the drive. I have Partition Magic 8.0 but it doesn't show any partitions to undelete. It does have an option to create a new partition but not sure if I will lose my data that was on the drive.
I have years worth of data/projects on this drive so don't want to try something that is unsafe.
Can someone please explain the proper way to use Partition Magic to recover this partition or a way I can go about this.

Isn't it possible to just recreate the partition instead of having to recover the files. Nothing has been deleted except the partition itself.
Actually yes you're right. I misread. Here is a way to recover a parition table. This process is a little advanced but should work for you.

http://www.ptdd.com/recoverylostpartition.htm did the trick. Thanks.
Hi,ùI'd recommend you Restorer2000 Pro or Data recovery from easeus. I once did the mistake you did and recovered all my deleted data.
