It depends on your resources and what you want to do.  If you want to set up an online business, you are better off getting a professional package.  If all you want is a personal site to sell your products, then your hosting service may provide a customizable package for online commerce.

In general, there are 2 parts to an e-commerce site:  The online portal itself, which includes your product catalog and the web site with a "shopping cart" system.  The second is the payment processing system.  This depends on your needs, but generally, there are many different companies offering this service in the Internet.  Most hosting services that offer e-commerce packages also offer some sort of payment processing through these third-party companies.  You may even contact the major credit card companies themselves for assistance in this regard, although working directly with them and their first tier partners is usually more expensive.

Keep in mind that both of these parts are necessarily separate, so make sure that whatever solution you choose covers both, not only the shopping cart site.
