using distinct and max in access

what do i use to check the distinct records in access

i have data

object      rank
house      1
house      2
car      2
car      4
car      6
cat      1

and want to show the distinct groups and its max rank like so
object      rank
house      2
car      4
cat      1

    select object, max(rank)
    from yourtable
    group by object
