Unable to access company .com internally

Server is running Windows Server 2003.

Clients are trying to access their website internally and are redirected to a different website i.e.

Clients try, from work, to access their website www.mysite.com. They are pointed to www.wrongsite.com.

BUT, the website can be accessed from another location OUTSIDE of the network, i.e. from home.

Any ideas?

I do not think they host their own website... it is through godaddy.

Hi GJTechSolutions,

Sounds like name resolution problem. Can you post specifics of your DNS configuration?

Sure, what exactly do you need?
Hello GJTechSolutions,

what is your internal domain name?

Regards,

suppsaws
It is the same as the wesbite name.

transmarkpartners.com

SO, I wanted to know if I could simply edit the hosts file in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc ...

adding one line:

internal address of server   www.companywebsite.com   internal website

to map the ip address to the host name?

I've not tried it yet. I was wondering if you had a better solution beause there are quite a few PCs and this would have to be done on all of them...
GJTechSolutions,

in the dns on your dns server in the fwd lookup zone add a www record that points to the server the domainname is hosted on

suppsaws
hmm...

When I look up the whois record for the website... there are several servers:

Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.EASYDNS.COM
NS2.EASYDNS.COM
REMOTE1.EASYDNS.COM
REMOTE2.EASYDNS.COM
REMOTE3.EASYDNS.COM

Which server shall I point it to?
Does your web server have internal IP number? Add CNAME record www for its A host record in forward lookup zone on your internal DNS
toniur

Please specify steps on how to go about doing that if possible. Want to make sure I do not do the wrong thing. Thanks!
Does your server have internal IP?
If so, go to DNS console, go to forward lookup zone for your domain. Right click the tone and select Add new CNAME record, type name "www" and specify IP or browse to A record of your web server.
Before attempting to access web site from your clients, they should clear DNS cache with "ipconfig /flushdns".
Yes erver has internal IP.

I did nslookup and got the internal 192.168.X.X
Then follow suggested procedure and you should be fine, if not, post here.
And where would I find the ip or a record?

website is www.transmarkpartners.com
I don't think these guys host their own website... but I can't seem to find the ip of the web server...
External IP is:  72.32.195.242
But this is not the information you need, you need to find internal IP address if server has one. If not, create new A host record with external IP for www.transmarkpartners.com and it should work.
Well, the workaround:

Edited
c:\WINNT\system32\drivers/etc/hosts

and added:

external ip of website    www.website.com.
On each of the workstations on the network and we're up...

a bandaid... but the workstations will never be moved so this will not cause problems.

Did that and you are correct. It also works.

Anyway, one more question.

I am using the pop3 connector for one email called x@yoursite.com. I want to be able to route it to the exchange mailbox  user@mysite.com.... how do I tell the connector where to deliver the mail to?
What kind of mail server are you using?
exchange sorry
I know I can make it a global and then have it redirected based on the To: and From: fields... but where is it going when it is just a user mailbox?
Do i set the exchange mailbox to the person I want to get the email?
Add another smtp address to existing account. User can have multiple smtp addresses.
So the pop connector is set for abc@xyz.com.

The address I would like to direct these emails to is an exchange account blah@xyz.com.

I hve to add an smtp to blah@xyz.com   for abc@xyz.com
I believe so.
