Windows NTFS Permissions Question

Fileserver:  Windows Storage Server 2003

Very specific permissions question.

Folder Permissions:  I need a specific group called 'Engineers' to be able to view and make changes to existing documents within a single folder, but I don't want them to be able to delete any files or folders or add any new files or folders.  I also want these Engineers to be able to drag-and-drop (cut) files from this folder and place them into a subfolder for review.

Is this possible?  It seems like I can't let Engineers edit existing files without being able to add new files as well.

CUT = moving = deleting from original folder and adding to destination folder. So your assumption won't work. I think the best way is ao grant READ permissions in the parent folder and Modify or Full Control on the subfolder so that your guys can copy and paste the file into the subfolder.

Thanks for the responses.  Yes, I'm on the same page with you by allowing them to manually copy the file from the parent folder, then paste and alter withint the subfolder.

I was just hoping to find some way to add drag-and-drop (cut) abilities from the parent to the subfolder.  Just trying to make things easier for the users.

Thanks again -  Matrixnz...u get the points.  Ormerodrutter...you just about wrote word for word what he said...but, thanks for the reply.
Sorry I didn;t read his post before writing mine.
