YES

The only backup included for FREE with ALL versions of OSX is rsync.  IT is a command line utility accessed via Terminal
If you use RsyncX you can create backup scripts and set them to run at certain intervals.
RSyncX is a GUI for rsync .. making it easier to use - http://archive.macosxlabs.org/rsyncx/rsyncx.html

I can also recommend the FREE program by LaCie called SilverKeeper
http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/
It will work with OSX versions Jaguar (10.2), Panther (10.3) and Tiger (10.4)

After that you have Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper .. primarily for making Full Backups of your entire system.  SuperDuper is better and has a few features that make the $15 license worthwhile.

There are dozens of commercial programs including Retrospect, ChronoSync, Synchronize Pro ..

Personally I use the Apple .Mac Backup application and SuperDuper for all my needs.
