Expose an event from a running vb.net exe "windows forms application"

How to call into a running vb.net exe and invoce a procedure. Like an active x exe server used to be in vb.
I have an exe that, while not running as a service, is allways running. I need to be able to call some exposed objects from vbscript  eg  set something = CreateObject("myproject.mystuff").
I understand that this can be done using an dll/windows controll library but thats not what i want to do, i want to call into a live exe that will do some processing and hand me back a result without affecting the running state of the exe.

Hello HarperBen,

You might want to look at .NET Remoting:
http://www.codeproject.com/vb/net/Remoting_HelloWorld.asp

Or, if you are looking int othe future, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
http://www.codeproject.com/WCF/

Thanks Rimvis,
I have see the the first link, i dont think its what i am looking for.
Does anyone have any experience in having created an exe in .net that can be called in the following way:   set something = CreateObject("myproject.mystuff").

I am sure it cannot be so difficult, i hope that i am not reduced to monitoring a directory for text file instructions!
