Rules not working in outlook 2002

I am running outlook 2002 with Exchange 2003.

My problems is when i setup a rule using rules wizard to forward an email from an external internet account to a distribution list internaly nothing happens.

I have deleted the rule and recreated it.

Can any one help.

Thanks

Hello themdigital,

did you try the rules with smth else? like put it into another folder, to see if the rules actually work.
also, try to fwd it to another user instead of the DL, maybe there is smth with the DL.

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

I'm first wondering why you are running Outlook 2002 when Outlook 2003 licensing is included with SBS 2003.

Because I can't test this for you since I don't have Outlook 2002 installed anywhere.  But assuming that this type of rule hasn't really changed that much in the past few versions... I would wonder if your distribution list is a "Personal" Distribution list?  Or is it a distribution list that's listed in the Global Address List (it should be this kind, not a personal one).

It worked for me when I just tested it though with the following rule settings:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
from sender@domain.com
forward it to DistributionList

If none of the rules are working then start Outlook from the command line with the /cleanrules switch.  This will remove all local and server based rules from your profile.  (if you have other rules configured, back them up first).

You probably need to recreate the user's Outlook Profile because it's most likely corrupt.

Just to be clear... your rule is as follows?

Apply this rule after the message arrives
from sender@domain.com
forward it to DistributionList

And the DistributionList ONLY contains internal email addresses?

How far up on the list is that rule?  Try putting it above all other rules, and then add the option:
"Stop processing other rules" and see if that will get it to work.  If it does, you may have a conflicting rule somewhere down below that's causing the problem.

Its only forwarded to internal users and is the only rule i have.

Can you try creating the rule in another user's account and see if that works?  Just for kicks.

Also... you said, "Its only forwarded to internal users"

Are you saying you listed each user separately?  Or did you create a distribution list?
