Office 2007 to office 2003 sharing problem

Hi,

I had to uninstall office 2007 and reinstall office 2003.Now what happens is when i open a file which was shared in office 2007 now when i open it shows as read only.

From what i have read there is no easy way to go back to 2003. Microsoft has a converter to go to doc to docx but not viceversa. There are many online buisnesses that will convert the files back for some $$$. if you are me i wouldnt send my doc's out to just anyone. looks like the best bet is to either move everyone to 2007 or convert each file manually back to 2003.

Have you tried the compatibility pack for office 2007? it allows older versions of office to open files written in 2007. I have had it fix some strange 2003 to 2007 issues. here is a link.

Chris i have installed this pack only then it opens.After it opens it opens the xlsx file as read only and with some strange names.This is not with 1 machine.This happens with about 50 machines

do you still have a machine running office 2007? if so open one of the problem files with the 2007 machine and resave the file as a 2003 xls file format instead of of a xlsx. then try and open it with the 2003 machine again.

If i try this it works fine.Saving 100's of files as save as is too dfficult.
