WWW Publishing Service hangs during Visual Interdev development session

Here's a question I've posed before but never really had a satisfactory soltion to draw on. Is there any way at all of forcing the WWW Publishing Service to stop when Visual Interdev, for whatever reason, causes it hang?

In the past I've used Win2000 and now using XP Pro and it's always seemed impossible to stop the service. So for years I've been forced to re-boot to cure it but thought it would be nice to get a solution to this. Anyone any ideas?

You can use iisreset.exe from the command line on the server to control the IIS services

Hi dgorin, thanks for that. Will iisreset force associated services like w3svc to stop?

I don't know how "forceful" iisreset.  The program has always worked for me on my development machines, I haven't used it on busy production servers.

YES
I have never found a situation where IISreset didn't force the stop
I have seen from time to time where web application don't restart - and you either have to restart them using the MMC or one of the IISreset cmd's
