MSCRMFaxRouterService error / CRM 3.0 on SBS 2003 SP2 /

Hi!

I had to reinstall MS CRM 3.0 in 2003 SBS. Now I keep getting this MSCRMFaxRouterService service error every some minutes:

I have checked path mentioned in the error. It exists. I have noticed that when this error starts appearing, CRM web site is now longer available on http://SOKOL:5555. It even looks like the whole IIS has problems.

What else can I try or troubleshoot?

Tomaz

I have been dealing with the same problem on a brand new installation (< 2 weeks old, SBS2003 with SQL Server 2005 Workgroup on same server).  I haven't had CRM running for more than 6 hours (but when it is running - it runs without issue).  I am also receiving the same error that you are above, however, I think that the error indicates a different problem - specifically with problem with CRMAppPool in IIS.  I have now had my server up (rather CRM is up) for over 48 hours and running without issue, on my last attempt to fix this I did the following:

Installed Post SP2 hotfixes (rollup) for SQL Server 2005
Installed Exchange SP2
Created a new app pool in IIS and assigned to the CRM website
Implemented this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842493

Through searching, I found a vague reference (I don't recall where), but the statement indicated that SQL Report Server and CRM were sharing the same App Pool in IIS and this was causing problems with a new installation - seperating the pools solved the problem.  I was going to explore the specifics of this further, but did not receive any more errors - and hopefully I won't.

I'm not sure about your issue, but my CRMAppPool was completely unresponsive - I could not stop it - nor could I recycle it - it would take a full iisreset to get CRM to respond again.  The site itself was accepting connections.  The issue seems confined to that pool as all other sites on IIS were working fine.  The odd thing is that I never once recevied an error in the app/system logs leading up to the MSCRMFaxRouterService error.

Also - as a side note, from workstations I have tested this from, both internal and remote, the time it takes for CRM to load/appear after entering login and password varies.  Working external this AM - it launched immediately, however, when onsite (on the internal network) it took at least 15 seconds after entering login & pass for the CRM screen to popup.

Good luck, if I find any more information - I will post it here.

Hi Jeff.

Thanks for the link. But I think it solves "The request failed
with HTTP status 404: Not Found." problem.

I have a "time-out" problem. Probably because CRM somehow crashes IIS and then Fax Router Service time outs accessing otherwise correct URL.

I hope you find a solution to this Tomaz. I have been fighting with it for a month now. I have tried everything I can think of. Today I completely reinstalled CRM. I am waiting to see if it fixed anything. I was also getting errors in the CRM Web Site in Health Monitor. Those have cleared up since I reinstalled.

I installed verything on the C: drive

Following the Implimentation Guide ~

I enabled Indexing Service

So far everything is going well.
