Groupwise client in direct mode

We have an email client that seems to be missing email from a couple months back and he did not delete it himself, we are trying to look at a restored copy of the mailbox by going to it using direct mode with the GW client but it is not working. I am using the /ph- switch on the client and it just doesnt connect with the restored post office, also alll of componets are in place that are needed. Does anyone have any sugesstions? We are running netware 6.5 sp6 GW 7.0.2 hp

    Do you have the POA running in "client/server and direct" mode?  If it's running in only client/server mode, you can't connect to it direct, even using the /ph- switch.

    You can't just connect to a restored PO database without having a POA in the mix, in case that's what you're attempting, but since you say "all of the components are in place," I suspect you're not running the POA in "client/server and direct" mode.

    I am having the same problem on GW7 SP2.   I AM running in Client server and Direct mode.  
    Any help would be appreciated!
