Backup Exec 10.1d 5629 sp3 problem - cannot see Exchange Storage groups for backup

I am running Backup Exec 10.1d build 5629 and have just installed SP3. My hourly exchange transaction log backup began fialing immediately saying cannot find the resource. When I browse to the exchange server (running on a cluster) the exchange data is not visible so I cannot select it.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful!

Did you update the agents?

Yes pushed out to all servers after the sp3 install and went through fine. Tried removing and re adding the exchange agent licence. Found a veritas article that talks about the reg keys for 'Enable Exchange Support' and found there are 3 of them. Not all were set to 1 so did that and restarted services but no joy. Seems like it must be something simple but can't find it!

I have had problems with license keys on both Backup Exec 9 and 10, where Veritas/Symantec have had to issue new keys for the features to work correctly.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Is one of the registry keys you talk about the Restrict Anonymous key? Make sure it is set to 1 on both cluster nodes and the Backup Exec media server. See http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/268946.htm and http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/238618.htm

it seems like you are trying to backup the exchange from the active node(physical node)
when backing up exchange in a cluster, you need to install the remote agent on all the physical node and backup the resources not from the Active node but the VIRTUAL NODE
browse to the virtual node in the selection list and you will see the Exchange resources

am assuming that you are not backing up MS Exchange 2K7
BE 10D does not support it
11d 7170 does

Thanks honmapog, you really saved me there. I remembered earlier that I'd seen this same thing before years ago but couldn't for the life of me remember what the cause was. Soon as I saw restrict anonymous the penny dropped!

Many thanks again
