4 x quad core cpu motherboard

HI All,

I am looking for a motherboard that can have 16 cpu's in total. 4 x quad core! Any ideas?

Not that I have seen at the moment. There are Quad socket boards for dual core, im not sure if any of these will support the quad cores when they come out (perhaps a bios upgrade?)

I know that HP and lots of other manufacturers are all just about to start pushing quad core heavily so I don;t think it will be long before there is a huge range available!

One thing to bear in mind is that MS icensing is done via number of sockets, if you are thinking of this for a home system you may find that Vista and XP only support two sockets.
You got to use the 'Tigertown' series of processors from Intel. Which I believe are not available yet from them.

It is the quad-core processors that support quad-processor (quad-socket) configurations.

You might also be able to get a four-proc/16-core configuration on a NUMA-based system as is the IBM x-450 server.
