I have swapped out the cat5 cable and no luck reset router and no luck. i haven't swapped out the NIC but i don't see how it could just go bad in a second...any ideas are appreciated....

Check the NIC properties in the device manager.

My Computer> Right Click > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Network adapters > NIC CARD in question > Right Click > Properties > Advanced

now make sure line speed and duplex are either 100mbps or auto detect.

Other than that its either the cable or the device its attached to.

i changed line speed and duplex to 100mbps and the nic became disabled.....i will have to put it back to auto detect....and it will give me 10.0mbps

the nic is an inter pro 1000 pt server adapter.... it should give options of 10/100/1000 even tho it is 1000mbps, the router i have it coming to dosent support 1000mbps its only a linksys 10/100mbps im guessing. mabey it was never 100mbps but i could of swore it was..i got this pc from dell in November i never noticed this i would probably be better of replacing it instead of dealing with dell and there headache. i just don't understand how it would go back while it is in use ? i know they can be flaky but this boggles me...i did swap out the cables also

the funny thing is the back of the card is showing me 100

the light system for 10 is off 100 is labeled green and 1000 is labeled orange. I would probably be better off just going out and buying a new NIC ??

is it possible for a virus or spy ware or anything the server is on the net one nic is a static ip and the other nic a local ip for my intra net... i thin ki know what will have to be done i just want to make sure im not missing anything ??
