Problem with Sql server 2000 - XML support over http (IIS)

I am trying to do a simple task of qerying the sql data in XML format over HTTP like  http://localhost/timesheet/sql?select first name from employees for xml auto

I created the virtual directory (timesheet) pointing it to a new folder on c:  -  program- microsoft sql server - configure sql xml support on iis - Gave all the right parameters. I have "allow sql , allow post, allow .." all checked on.

But when I try to acces sit thro' http like this:  http://localhost/timesheet/sql?select first name from employees for xml auto - I get the following error.

ERROR: 400.100 Bad Request
HResult: 0x80004005
Source: Microsoft SQL isapi extension
Description: The virtual name could not be recognized

when I run the same query  (select firstname from employees for xml auto)  in query analyser it works fine

I jsut followed the instructions on microsoft site - not sure if I am missing anything. Can anyone help me here.

It sounds like the virtual directory for the location on your server is not set up properly.

did you set up IIS appropriately for this?

Yes, I did. Followed the instructions on msdn..

I got it working.  I missed the installation of sqlXml 3.0. Seems like it is required to get xml over http because I could query the the daat in xml format from query analyser without installing sqlxml.
