IE7 crashes - won't even run

My Internet Explorer 7 does not run.

When I run the tab says "connecting" then 5 seconds later it says "Internext Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"

5 seconds later I get the error message "The instruction at "0x2755cf6b0" reference memory at "0x0000001" the memory could not be written"

I have searched the internet and tried various things but nothing has worked.

I've re-installed IE7 and still the same.

Greetings BigCap !

Does other program access the internet, like email client or instant messenger?  Has IE7 been running fine and now just stopped working? Or did you just set up IE7?

1. An addon may be interfering with IE. Disable Addons.  Go to Tools > Add-on Manager, and uncheck the addons.

2. Reset IE settings.  Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.  Click on "Reset" button. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.

3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, antispyware, ad-blocker, popup blocker, and all Norton programs.

4. Uninstall and reinstall IE7. Make sure you have the latest updates.

Best wishes, war1

It stopped working some time ago so have been using Firefox - but I need IE to run bbc's iplayer.

So yes all other internet software is working fine.

I can't get at tools etc as after 5 seconds I get the error message and then IE can not be accessed.

Have tried stopping other software i.e. avg etc but still nothing

Have un-installed and re-installed and the same.
1. To disable addons, instead of going to Tools of IE, go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced. Uncheck "Third party extensions". Click Ok. Reboot computer.

2. To reset IE settings, do so from Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced.

I can't believe that was so easy.

I went into internet options and simply reset.

And it#s now working fine.

I've spent ages on this problem searching the internet for help - and tried loads of things with no success.

So thanks for this - I can now use bbc iplayer.
BigCap, gald the problem is fixed.
