POP not working

I have installed the exchange server for the first time. Everything seems to be working fine except pop access.

I can configure exchange account in outlook and send and receive mails. I can even open http://server01/exchange link, which opens outlook web access.

The problem is that I can't access the account through the POP interface. Every time I try and test the pop account, I get
Establishing network connection - Completed
Find outgoing mail server (SMTP) - completed
Find incoming mail server (POP3) - Completed
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3) - Failed
Send test e-mail message - Failed.

I don't know much about exchange server. I opened system manager and tried to find something, but couldn't.

simple solution!!!

on the exchange server pop service is not set to start automatically. Open the services snap in and start the exchange POP service and set it to automatic.
