Not real sure what you are asking here.  You don't use AD Sites and Services to add a host to the domain, you use ADUC.  If the VPN gives you connectivity to the domain ten you shouldn't have a problem.

AD Sites and Services is used to create sites that are connected through slow WAN links and therefore manage your replication schedule as well as to ensure that computers in a specific site find the closest domain controller for authentication.

Yeah i have seemed to figure that one out today.

So is it acceptable to let clients in a domain log on using a dc in a seperated site for authentication?

and as long as DNS and connectivity to the server it is okay?

thanks
