Microsoft, Enterprise Manager, SQL 2000--Database Backup using maintnance Plan not working

I am using Maintnance Plan to do nightly backups.  I have one database that for some reason the job shows that it's executing put it never finishes.  The database is full recovery mode.  At fist I had several databases in the maintnance plan, but then I saw that this one database was not completing, so I removed it and placed it in it's own maitnance plan.  It runs for days and never finishes.  However, when I do a backup from query analyzer, the back-up completes fine.  Any ideas?

The thing you can check is the size of your log files if it is huge take backup of this file manually and then shrink it.

the second thing is you should Check the consistency of disk space allocation structures for a specified database.
using DBCC CHECKALLOC

the logs are not big; maitnance plan is still getting stuck when it gets to this database
