Can iPOD save to locations be different for music and podcasts

I have a laptop/ipod user who uses iTunes and also downloads podcasts.  The user has about 30 G of music that we store on an external drive.  Thjey load what they want to their iPOD and bring the iPOD along when they travel.

The same user wants to download podcasts... but keep these on the laptop - so they are up to date.

In itunes we found the screen where you can set the download location for music (the external drive), but... is there somewhere we can set the location for downloaded podcasts to a different location  e.g. the laptop drive.

As far as I know ... simple answer is NO.
There is NO option in iTunes to store podcasts elsewhere.
The iTunes on the laptop can only use a single iTunes Music folder which has a Podcasts subfolder.

Surely iTunes won't work on the laptop anyway when it is disconnected from the network as the Music Folder is "unavailable" anyway

I found the answer to my own question.  Will ask for a refund of points.

For reference, here is the answer.

A single library file cannot have its components (music, podcasts, etc) directed to different locations.

However, starting with version 7 of iTunes, there is support for multiple library files.   As a result you can create a "home" library file that points to one location, e.g. an external drive, and a "traveling" library file that points to a location on the laptop.

The way this is done is outlined in iTunes help.  Search on Multiple Libraries.
