Ad-ware aawservice.exe

I am having a problem with the the new "Ad-aware 2007"...after I run the program, this thing "aawservice.exe" appears under my task manager (alt-control-del)

It eats up a TON of memory (I mean it's easy just to go to end-process) but it's kind of annoying to have to do that everytime I do Ad-ware scan...

Anybody had this problem and have a suggestion?

ok, i've got AVG 7.5 Pro (the paid version) so I guess I'll d/l Spybot (I used to use it a long time ago)

The Ad-Aware Service has been having issues for the past month or two.  While it does take a lot of resources at times, it can also crash while updating.

Spybot Search & Destroy is a good alternative, however if you have Ad-Aware Plus or Pro, keep in mind that Spybot S&D does not quite have the same on-access protection as Ad-Aware's AdWatch.  Spybot S&D does have other benefits, such as "immunization", SDHelper for IE, and TeaTimer for watching for registry changes.

If you want an anti-spyware product that provides on-access protection, there are free and paid alternatives available such as SpywareGuard (free) , COMODO BOClean (free) , Windows Defender (partly free), Webroot Spy Sweeper (paid), and many other solutions.
Ran into this before and found out multiple Anitspyware programs were running and conflicting with eachother. Adaware was one and Spybot was another.
