do unused library items make file size bigger in flash cs3?

OK im using flash cs3.  I have imported alot fo items into the library in one of my projects.  Are all the items in the library published with my swf file?  Like if i did not use all the items i imported are they still included and then make the file size bigger?

Nope, nothing will be published in the SWF unless it's somewhere in the timeline or has "export for actionscript" or "export for runtime sharing" in the symbol's properties...or it's a sound attached to a timeline event.  Did I miss anything?  Anyway, it has to be in use to publish.

If you're concerned about the file size of each element, be sure to use the "generate size report" in the publish setting under the Flash tab.  That'll give you a detailed rundown of the file size of all of the elements in your SWF.

Also look into shared libraries if you're worried about FLA file size, or you want to set up a master library of symbols that you can use in multiple flash movies.

Hope this helps!
