Probably the proxy server is blocking any Torrent applications?

If your Internet works fine without a proxy setup... don't use the settings.  I'm assuming the ISP instructs to leave those fields blank.

START >> RUN >> INETWIZ

Connect using LAN
UNCHECK all boxes (unless ISP advises otherwise)

Is the proxy server your are using free? Even then, you have not explained what type of proxy server it is. (Sock4, Sock 5, http, etc.) If you are looking to hide your ip address from other's while downloading/seeding torrents, try a vpn service like: https://www.relakks.com/?lang=eng&cid=gb

It will provide you with even more protection than the proxy server would, since it would encrypt all your traffic.

Ive had similar problems, uTorrent is very dependant on the firewall allowing ports open access to allow the P2P file sharing technology.

Go to Options and preferences within uTorrent and go to the connections tab, in there you should have a number for the port your using. I would suggest turning off the option of creating a different port everytime you open utorrent as this would require you opening a ton of ports on your firewall.

If your unsure how to open ports on your firewall, please refer to the manufacturers manual.

I'm affraid, but there is no bittorrent @ work.

I suppose the proxy is just allowing outgoing http(s) traffic and you need at least a port redirect from the firewall to your computer. If that is impossible you need a socks (4/5) server.
