If you're in a domain you can use NTBackup: http://www.mcmcse.com/microsoft/guides/ntbackup.shtml

I am using Veritas 9.0 for backup....

Ok i need to do this on the dc or the server which i need to format
If there are no other domain controllers in your network then you'll have to do the procedure with the REGBACK and REGREST.

I have 4 domain controllers....
In that case Veritas will take care of the backup of permissions.
