Change Policies on MS Small Business Server 2003

I have recently installed Small Business Server 2003 on our 10 computer network, and since then no PC can write to a floppy disk, because of policy restrictions, Additionally, due to policy restrictions, all my PCs' firewalls are enabled.

Can you guide me on how to enable wrtiting on floppy disks, and how to disable firewall inside the network?

Finally, can you guide me to some useful resource on understanding the policies and how to manage them?

Thank you in advance

There are no default policies with SBS that would prohibit writing to a floppy disk.  So, I would have to ask what were you trying to copy to the floppy disk?  Because some documents themselves have these type of restrictions.  Look in the document's properties > security.

As for the firewall... why do you want to disable it.  Just because a computer is inside your network does not mean that it should not be firewalled.  But you'll find full documentation on how to manage it here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/smallbusiness/prodtech/windowsxp/fwgrppol.mspx

You'll also find great documentation on how to manage the client firewalls by opening up Help & Support on your SBS and enter "XP Firewall" in the search box.

agree with what Jeff said.
Check if the floppy is write protected.
If you want to disbale windows firewall on all the client machines you write a group policy

the floppies do not work on any computer for any file, since the SBS has been applied. A message comes up that says that it is a restriction policy. So I wonder how to disable it. It has nothing to do with the permissions on the files...

Check the computer local security policy and also run group policy modelling wizard on a particualr user account.

If you'd like to post the Group Policy report from a workstation for me to take a look at, I can tell you where that's coming from then.  Because, as I said, there is no default software restriction policy applied by SBS out of the box.

Log into a workstation and open a command prompt.
Change to the root of C:\ and run the following at the prompt:

C:\>gpresult /z >gpresult.txt

This will create a text document (gpresult.txt) which you can then open to copy & paste the results here.

This sbsserver was attached to the domain and became the primary domain controller. It replaced a windows 2003 server. May the policy was there...

Well, sorry for the delay in responding, I was busy the past few days.  I can tell you though that if the SBS was added to the domain without following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884453 then you will have problems.  Even if you do follow that KB article, that is not the proper method to upgrade a domain to a Small Business Server 2003.

Also, your client workstations are not in the proper OU.  They should be in:
OU=SBSComputers,OU=Computers,OU=MyBusiness,DC=<MYDOMAIN>,DC=local

So, that's part of the problem as well.
