ISA 2006 problems after updates NO RDP

Hi all

Ok after a good year without any updates on our ISA server thats both windows updates and isa updates (mainly because local internet access on the isa server has been disabled) i added the server so it would get updates from the WSUS server which worked fine, im sure everythign was fine after the isa updates and reboot, and the i realised the ISA server which is running windows 2003 standard was only on SP1 so i manually downloaded the SP2 and installed and rebooted then realised i could no longer RDP into the server, only if i physically am at the machine.

You can not even ping the machine

As the only reason for the ISA server is from our sharepoint portal i also realised no one can access this either

From the ISA server you can ping all the other servers and ping web sites (as before)

Usually with a SP2 update i would guess the firewall on the NICs was blocking everything but when i attempt to check this through control panel i get a message "windows cannot run because the windows firewall/ICS service is not running. To use windows firewall, you must start the windows firewall/ics service. If you configure exceptions for applications or services that were running before you started windows firewall, you might have to restart your computer so that these applications and services run properly. Do you want to start the windows firewall/ics service?

And i click yes and it says you can not start the service

It also says at least one service failed when restarted and the main one I belive is the first one listed below

There are several teething problems with SP2 which we're still seeing, which is why I haven't upgraded to SP2 yet.

Give it a while and we might get some more information come through from Microsoft!

The RDP issue with Service Pack 2 for 2k3 can surprisingly be solved by simply rebooting the server twice. Don't ask me why, I just know that is often the fix!

I assume you've checked the terminal services service is running?

If that's not it, there is something in the Terminal Services Manager tool you can verify but I can't remember what it is! :-(

Ive just noticed the SQL Service server manager in the taskbar and it seems there is nothing selected in the server or services, and when you try there is nothing to select, should there be on a standard isa server install?

Just a quick note I can RDP from the isa server, and do pretty much everything but from any other PC to the isa server i cant
