Receiving run time error when I open Outlook 2003

Sometimes when I open Outlook, I receive the following message:  "Run-time error -2147467259 (80004005 Method '~' of object '~' failed".  Does anyone know the fix for this?  Thanks much.

I would first look at disabling any add-ins installed in outlook - av, spam filtering, ms office plugins, etc, and see if the problem goes away.  Then you could reinstall the corrupt app if needed.
Sounds like a Visual Basic runtime error. This Microsoft article might help.

No, I found the problem to be with Active Card Gold.  There is a conflict that exists between the way that Active Card Gold handles Certificates and the built in Certificate support of Outlook.  Please see the following for the fix:

The ACOutCom error occurs because you are using an ActivCard smartcard
reader, Outlook, and using Word as your email editor. There is a conflict in
the built in Outlook certificate support and the ActivCard software. Disable
the unnecessary Outlook Security Icons in ActivCard and the error goes away:

To get rid of the "ACOutCom
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Method '~' of object '~' failed" error:

1) Insert your SmartCard into the ActivCard reader.

2) Open up ActivCard Gold Utilities (Right click on the ActivCard Icon
running in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (next to the clock)
and choose OPEN -or- Go to Start/Programs/ActivCard Gold/ActivCard Gold
Utilities)

3) Go to Tools/Local Policies

4) Scroll down to the "Add Outlook Security Icons in the compose e-mail
window" policy. Click "Properties". Choose the "Disabled" setting, and choose
OK.
