hi there, in the Exchange System Manager console, right mouse click on the organisation name at the very top of the tree and select the Internet Mail Wizard. From here, just click next and follow the on-screen instructions to setup your SMTP connector to enable you to send and receive emails.

    hope this helps!

    Accepted Solution

an x400 address is generally used for ldap transfer but is not a neccessity to send or receive smtp mail. if you open exchange system manager and drill down through the administrative group and then down to the server name, you should have an option for 'queues'. check the queue here for any mails that seem to be backed up and when you double click on the problem mail it should give you some more information on why the mail hasn't gone.
It is possibly a DNS issue if you are sure that all of the Exchange services are started and also the SMTP service is started too.

Check the event viewer logs too for some more information - they are normally pretty informative.
