Have you tried installing the normal drivers for it?

External hard drive ( USB ) should not need any special drivers.

Does it work on other machines ?

I have heard  of issues where drives are not recognized in VISTA but are OK on other OS's.

I hope this helps !

Please see the post installation procedures about, 7/8 down the page, on the following link for a cumulative rollup update for USB devices.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936003

I am giving you this entire page, instead of clicking on the USB fix, because there are many issues Vista has overcome that you may need more inforation on.
