RAR File download corruption

Temporarily disable antivirus and antispyware programs check of new files. Then try to download a rar file.

Try using Firefox to download the rar file.

Does this only happen with rar files? And any specific places or in general?

is the file from a legal link? its either the actual file is really corrupted or your download has been corrupted. i experienced having downloaded a compressed (.rar, .zip) and was corrupted because my DSL line was having problems with the connection, it's either it easily disconnects or it's very fast...that it doesnt finish the download. i just used Mozilla Firefox for downloading, and used GetRight for downloading files.

usually what happens the DSL connection break for a few second which  then breaks the downloaded content usually rar files !!

are u downloading these files from

rapidshare.com
megaupload.com
rapidshare.de

and such sharing sites ?? if its so then i possibly guarantee that the problem is not with ur connection but there is something wrong with the file

if the files is a rar song u have downloaded from somewhere then again there are possible chance of file corrupted ...

did u tried downloading any other rar files ??

and by the way do u have winrar installed ?? www.rarlab.com 

Some RAR files which are made with a newer version of Winrar can't be opened with a older version of Winrar.

If you are using Winrar, try to upgrade it to the newest one.

To clarify to all of you, I have the following comments;
- Yes, I am using rapidshare.com to download most of these file, however, If I tried to download from my friend home (other DSL connect) it works fine.
- I had the latest winrar and I am using IDM for download.
- I am usin Speed Touch Home 585 for my DSL and I have tried both wire + wireless connection.

Are you able to download the RAR with Firefox browser?

If you are using IE7 try to add the website to the trusted internet sites list. This might help.

Something in your computer is blocking the download of RAR files, and it is not browser specific.  Are you able to download other file types?

Did you check if antivirus is slowing or blocking the download, as I suggested earlier?

Check if your firewall is blocking the extension or the website?

The problem is resolved. I resolve the problem by updating the Modem frameware.
