restoring windows 2003 server from backup

I am restoring a version "Windows 2003 Server" which was backed-up using the standard Windows Server backup application.
  - I choose the option of backing up:
         the entire c: drive AND
         the system-state

I have just installed a fresh copy of Server 2003.
Do I need bother with the service pack or can I just start my restore (which had all service packs installed when the last backup was done)?

    Accepted Solution

When you backup, automatically it backs up every file in the selected drive (including SP if you chose to back it up entire c:). So, you don't have to do service pack on it.
For restoring, you would like to restore your backup to the same hardware system. Otherwise, you will get a blue screen for inaccessible boot device.
