First off, I know you can do transparency in flash and window transparency as well.  My question is this.  I have a scrolling line of photos, that I need to come from left to right.  The left side is a curved area that I would like to be transparent.  The HTML setup is I have 2 layers, one with the curved area, and one with the running photos.  Left alone, the flash item goes over the curved piece (see graphic if you are confused)

I need the curved piece to be transparent.  Any ideas how to do this since the images are using that area to come from behind it?

You would need to apply a mask for it.

Create a new layer, right click on it and select "Mask Layer", move your existing layer just beneath the mask layer. Remove the locks and draw the area that will be visible. (You could use some printscreen for aid here)

Good Luck.

Any way of adding a drop shadow (alpha channel maybe) to the curved portion that goes over the photos? So the drop shadow appears over the photos.

Yeah, just use the same approach.

Create a MovieClip in some other layer (over your original mask layer and photo layer) and then apply a Drop Shadow filter, then copy the same mask you originally used and mask that new layer. It should give that effect.

Good Luck!.
