How do create a startup script to run when the (FileMaker 7) database file is opened?

Create a script that does what you want. Then go to the File menu and choose File Options. Click on Perform script from the "When opening this file..." area of the dialog box and use the pull down menu to select the script.

I always make a copy of the file before doing this in case the script does something bad. If you attach as an open script and it has a problem, it is difficult to get into the file to fix it.
