Windows Defender

Hi Folks,

I have a laptop Acer 3050 and when i start it up first i notice that a Acer tour screen comes up with it doing some stuff now after about 5 minutes it stops at a screen saying Acer Tour.
I dont think that it should be taking so long for this to finish doing its thing.

Now is it possible to use Windows Defender to block this process from starting up each time the laptop starts because it comes back everytime and I can only remove by going to task manager. I went into Windows Defender but when I highlight the Acer Tour process from the name group,  the disable and remove options are grayed out.

Any ideas on this, would like to remove this once and for all from starting up.

    Accepted Solution

    1) find out where the progrm is starting from and remove it:
most likely the registry, most likely place in the registry:
find the name of the EXE file with task manager then look for it in both keys
could be in the all users startup folder,
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
least likely, the autoexecute.bat or win.ini

or you can find the exe's name in task manager, search for it on the drive, the rename it and see what the error sais when you reboot
