Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 running on Windows 2003.

We have confiugred our Citrix server with a web interface, which appears to run perfectly on our internal network. We have sites connected to our head office, via Cisco VPN with IP ranges from 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.10.0.
Our citrix server is installed on 192.168.10.19, however it does have two NIC's and the secondary NIC at some point picked up the IP 192.168.10.34, but is now disabled.

We are attempting to provide straight-forward access to the server via the internet with the address http://citrix.companyname.com
NAT has been configured on our router for the internet IP address allocated by us for Citrix. Firewall rules have been created for HTTP plus for ICA client access.

We can browse, externally, to our site http://citrix.companyname.com
We can log in and authenticate
Our list of applications is viewable
We can click on the application and it will begin to load
The Citrix splash screen appear showing "CONNECTION IN PROGRESS..."
We then receive an error message:
CANNOT CONNECT TO THE CITRIX PRESENTATION SERVER.
THERE IS NO CITRIX PRESENTATION SERVER CONFIGURED ON THE SPECIFIED ADDRESS.

Running NETSTAT whilst connection is in progress shows requests to:
192.168.10.34:1494
192.168.10.34:2598

And now we are totally at a loss of how to proceed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Enable the second interface and see if it works. It looks like that interface was enabled when you did the install and not it's trying to communicate with a citrix process via that ip address (probally picks the highest ip address)

I am not a citrix expert, but it seems like you need to reconfigure citrix to use the correct IP or go with the .34 address and adjust the network accordingly.

don't worry about the 2nd NIC... this is a configuration problem with your web interface.   Currently you have the default set to Internal which means when you launch an application it is going to return the internal ip address of your server.  Obviously this won't work if you are outside of the network.

what you need to do:

configure an external (alternate) address on your citrix server by using the altaddr command (altaddr /set 60.20.xx.xx).  Of course use whatever your external IP is.

This would also require that you open ports 1494, 80 (or whatever your xml port is), and 2598 on your firewall

then in your Web Interface configuration change the default connection to "Alternate" and create rules for the internal connections.

The admin guide for the Web Interface goes into great detail on this so I would read that first if you have not: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX111709
