I think the lines of Bob should do the trick.
You also might take a look at the function mentioned here:

As similar function is located here:

based on the returned values it tells which OS it is by translating the returned values. Sometimes XP is also seens as an NT kind of operating system.

In VBA it can be checked like:
Sub test2()
MsgBox Application.OperatingSystem
End Sub
